Vice President, Audit

 

Cary Spain joined CHAN as Vice President, Audit, in 2009. In addition to assisting Management and Governance identify and address business risks and opportunities, Ms. Spain will also assist with CHAN’s growth strategy. Based in Denver, she will support Catholic Health Initiatives, Centura, and Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s HealthCare.

Prior to joining CHAN, Ms. Spain most recently served as a Partner in Advisory Services for Ernst & Young and prior to that, she worked as a Manager of Accounting and Business Assurance Practices for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Providing services to global Fortune 1000 and equivalent companies, she has become an expert in audit, risk and financial management.

By focusing her energies toward creative solutions and practical action plans, Ms. Spain has earned a reputation for developing high performance teams that consistently produced outstanding results. She also brings experience in assessing the impact of changing business risks during an economic downturn and ensuring that appropriate action plans are considered and aligned with the key risks.

Ms. Spain earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Cincinnati. She is a CPA and a member of several professional affiliations, including the Institute of Internal Auditors where she serves as the Denver Chapter Chief Audit Executive Roundtable Leader.

Ms. Spain’s community service contributions include serving as the chairperson for the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Rocky Mountain Area Conference Steering Committee. She is also involved with Make-a-Wish Colorado.
