KURT HELD

Vice President, Associate Services

Kurt Held became the Vice President of Associate Services at CHAN Healthcare Auditors in early 2007. He is responsible for all Associate Services (human resources) and Leadership Development functions at CHAN.

He has over 20 years of experience in corporate strategic HR, with expertise in:

  • Merger integration
  • Staffing
  • Employee relations
  • Compensation
  • AAP/EEO
  • Litigation
  • Change management
  • Training and development.

Mr. Held has experience in all aspects of human resources in the healthcare auditing, banking, and aviation industries. Before coming to CHAN, he spent 14 years managing HR functions for banking institutions. That included six years as Director, Staffing and Development, for Mercantile Bancorporation; two years as Senior VP/Regional HR Director for Firstar Bancorporation, and six years as Senior VP/Director, HR, for U.S. Bank. His moves were initiated by acquisitions — Firstar over Mercantile and U.S. Bank over Firstar. At U.S. Bank he managed all HR functions for 8,000 employees in four major lines of business in 28 states.

Before entering the banking industry, Mr. Held worked for 10 years in human resources at McDonnell Douglas Corp., the aircraft maker, in St. Louis. Over that time, he worked his way up from summer intern in the employee assistance program to Group Manager of Employee Relations for 1,500 employees.

Mr. Held earned a master of arts in education (counseling) from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.A. in sociology from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He has served on the boards of the Center for Financial Training and the AAIM Management Association (supports industrial management and HR).

His community service includes serving as a member of the board and of the executive committee for the American Red Cross. He is a past board member of the urban New City School in St. Louis.
