Vice President, Audit
Michelle Piranio joined CHAN in 1999 as an Audit
Manager, providing internal audit services to hospitals in the Kansas City area. With her strategic
planning background and proven history of integrating new technologies into
operations, she transitioned to the corporate office to develop CHAN’s
Communications and Knowledge Management functions. Michelle is recognized
for her ability to envision the future and translate the vision into
operations, in doing so she has made significant contributions to CHAN’s
Strategy, Knowledge Management, Decision Support, and Technology.
Today, Michelle is the Vice President, Audit for
Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System and shares responsibility
for CHAN’s core objectives of sharing knowledge, implementing the audit
framework and quality management.
Ms. Piranio began her healthcare career in
strategic planning for a hospital in
Denver. She worked with physicians to develop a
technology assessment function and was responsible for developing the
business plans for integrating new technologies into operations. She
pioneered development of market research functions in two major health
systems and has been responsible for marketing campaigns and promotions for
product lines within hospitals.
She earned a B.S. in biology from the
University
of Saint Mary in Kansas, and an MBA from the University of
Missouri-Kansas City’s Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public
Administration. She is a member of the Institute of Internal
Auditors and the Association of Healthcare
Internal Auditors.
Ms. Piranio's community service contributions include serving as the
chairperson for the Planning/Services Committee of Cardinal Ritter Senior
Service's Board and chairperson for the Finance Committee of the University
of Saint Mary's Board. She also volunteers with a number of ministries
associated with the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet.
