Vice President, Audit

Sarah Cole’s healthcare auditing career began in 1995. She joined CHAN in 2003 and within four years worked her way up from Audit Senior Manager to Audit Director to Senior Director to Vice President, Audit. Now she is in charge of all services to CHAN’s largest client, Ascension Health, in addition to overseeing services provided to several other CHAN clients. 

Ms. Cole began her career with Ernst & Young in Indianapolis, auditing for eight years in the Heath Care Assurance and Advisory Services group. She joined CHAN as an Audit Senior Manager for St. Vincent Health, an Ascension Health Ministry based in Indianapolis. As she progressed into the Audit Director role, Ms. Cole built an outstanding audit team and expanded her leadership over the audit teams of several other Ascension Health Ministries. Ms. Cole transitioned to CHAN’s corporate office in St. Louis in 2007 to serve as Vice President, Audit. Ms. Cole also serves as CHAN’s Corporate Responsibility Officer and has participated in various CHAN committees and workgroups; in these roles, she helps CHAN continuously challenge ways to increase the value we bring to our clients through the execution of the internal audit model. 

Ms. Cole earned a B.S. in accounting from Indiana University. She is a CPA and a member of several professional organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the Institute of Internal Auditors. 

Ms. Cole’s community service involvement has included serving as a board member and secretary for the Visiting Nurse Service Foundation, and volunteering at the Indiana Veterans’ Home and at the St. Louis Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
